Breast Lifts or Mastopexy at Raskin Plastic Surgery Colorado Springs
The surgical procedure known as mastopexy is performed in patients who may or may not have had large breasts when younger but whose breasts have now have sagged and their volume may have diminished.
Ptosis, or sagging of the breasts, is a common condition in women who have had moderate to large breasts during pregnancy. The sagging occurs following the return of the breasts to their pre-pregnancy volume.
The mastopexy procedure involves tailoring of the skin, shifting the nipple positions upward again, and increasing the breast. Under some circumstances this procedure may be combined with small breast implants to achieve fullness. We presently prefer Sientra Breast Implants since they are of high quality and provide a superior and free warranty for our patients. We also use Mentor saline or gel implants, if desired by the patient.
This is an outpatient procedure, usually performed at the Surgery Center at Kissing Camels. We also operate at Audubon North Surgery Centerin the Sisters Grove Pavilion at the St Francis Medical Center. Surgical Time: 3 hours.
Anesthesia: General anesthesia.
Scars: Surgical scars may require massage, topical scar therapy and sun block. Rarely, these scars can be revised a year or two following the original or primary procedure.
Social Activities: Social activities should be modified for approximately two weeks following this type of surgery. It is best to limit exercises and lifting for another two weeks. All of these limitations will be reviewed with you.
